Beginner
You're new to the skills necessary to complete this project, or maybe you've tried them just once or twice before.
Step 1 |
Click here to download the pattern. Print and cut out. |
Step 2 |
Trace around the circle on the Candy Pink felt and cut out. Cut out one for each coaster you will make. Set aside. |
Step 3 |
Trace around the leaf on the Apple Green felt three times and cut out. Set aside. |
Step 4 |
Mark ½" strips down one side of each of the pinks and the yellow felt. Cut. TIP: If you have not cut enough strips as you proceed, you can cut more later. |
Step 5 |
ADULT: Glue three leaves around the edge of the circle of felt. Let half of the leaf hang off of the edge of the coaster. |
Step 6 |
ADULT: Starting at one end of the yellow felt, place a drop of glue and begin to roll tightly.. When the yellow center is as large as you require, cut the strip off and add a pink strip just under the end of the yellow. Secure both with a drop of glue and continue rolling. Keep adding the pink felts in the same way until the flower is as large as you want, and secure the end with a drop of glue. We made three larger (1½" to 2" diameter) flowers for each coaster. |
Step 7 |
Continue to make smaller flowers the same way to fill in most of the base. |
Step 8 |
ADULT: Lay these flowers out on your base as you would like and begin to hot glue them to the base. TIP: Turn the final cut edge toward the center of the coaster when gluing. This will help stop it from wearing and coming undone. |
Step 9 |
ADULT: After you have glued all of the flowers to the base, add a drop of glue between flowers to secure. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
